About

Self portrait of Rochester based wedding photographer Ryan JacksonHi. I’m Ryan and as I’m sure you can imagine, I’m the main (but not the only) person behind Ryan Jackson Photography.

A little about me: I began my  journey in photography in 1986 when I enlisted in the United States Navy as a Photographer’s Mate.   After having the opportunity to photograph Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa and countless other dignitaries during my five year enlistment, I received an honorable discharge.  Believing I needed to expand my knowledge of photography, I enrolled at the Rochester Institute of Technology where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (with honors) in Professional Photographic Illustration.  Later I continued my education and earned my Master of Fine Art degree in Photography/Printmaking from the University of Memphis.

While I don’t like to brag, my work has been shown in public and private galleries across the nation including the prestigious George Eastman House in Rochester New York.  When not working behind the camera, I continue teaching all levels of photography to aspiring professionals.  Some of the colleges where I have taught photography include: University of Memphis, Ithaca College, and RIT.

Photographically, I enjoy all types of photography.  From the classic and elegant to cutting edge and gritty.  Whatever your style or photographic preference, you can be assured I have the training and experience needed to deliver the wedding, portrait, or event images you deserve.  Let’s talk about what I can do for you.
